Meet our Guide at your Residence and Drive to Cape-of-Rodon. This day will include a nice hike to Cape Rodoni and some relaxing time on the beach – visit The Cape of Rodon or Cape of Skanderbeg is a rocky cape on the Adriatic Sea north of Durrës, Albania. On the Cape is the Rodoni Castle, built by Skanderbeg in 1463 and a Saint Anthony Church. After the victorious First Siege of Krujë, the League of Lezhë decided to increase the fortifications for use against the Ottoman Empire. Skanderbeg chose the cape of Rodon as the location of the castle and construction began in 1450. The walls of the castle that was completed in c. 1452 had a length of 400m at that time. When the Siege of Krujë started in 1466 Skanderbeg retreated to Rodoni Castle from where he and his family, together with many people from Albania, were transported to Brindisi in 14 ships. According to Marin Barleti, this castle was destroyed by Ottoman forces in 1467. In 1500 the castle was rebuilt by the Republic of Venice. Time for Lunch (fish restaurant)  and relaxing on the beach. He kept them from crossing into Western Europe for 25 years, thus earning the title “Protector of Christianity” given by the Pope of the time. We will visit the Castle of Kruja, Scanderbeg Museum, one of the best-kept museums in the country, a very rich Ethnographic Museum situated on an original house of the 17th century and the Old Bazaar. Then we have a characteristic Albanian lunch in Kruja. After lunch, we depart for Tirana where we will be driving to see the main government buildings. Start the visit with the Nuclear Atomic Bunker called Bunk’Art 2, Then we will visit the Ethem Bey Mosque and Clock Tower which have become the postcard symbols of Tirana’s city centre. Afterwards, we will visit the National Historic Museum with artefacts and testimony of our history from prehistoric times to the present day. Afterwards, we take a walk in the area known as the Blloku where the Communist elite used to have their villas. Day 5-  Lalzi Bay  Rezidenca  Primavera – Durres – Berat – Rezidenca Primavera

After breakfast drive to Durres – One of Albania’s oldest cities, the country’s main seaport, the second largest industrial centre after Tirana. Durres lies on a small peninsula on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The city was colonized by the Greeks in 627 B.C. Named Epidamnos, which later became Dyrrachium. From the Venetian Tower at the harbour, the Medieval Town Wall leads to the amphitheatre (capacity 15,000 spectators) dating back to the 2nd century AD. and containing an early Christian Crypt with a rare wall mosaic. Between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD, Durres was an important port and trading centre on the Via Egnatia trading route between Rome and Byzantium (Istanbul). After a great number of earthquakes, the main part of the old town sank into the sea or collapsed and was subsequently built over. Visit the Amphitheatre and the Archaeological Museum.  Continue for Berat one of the most fascinating Albanian towns with a mixture of cultural influences and a UNESCO Heritage Site. Built almost all, in white on a slope of green with the river at its feet, it offers a striking view as soon as it becomes visible. It is famous for its white-washed houses with their many windows which seem to have been built on top of each other, which give it the nickname “town of a thousand windows”. The castle is the only one in Albania which still has houses and inhabitants within its walls. We will visit the Castle, Onufri Museum and several churches and mosques. Onufri was an Albanian master painter of the 16th century who painted many church icons in Albania and Greece and is famous for its red colour named after him. After visits to the castle, we will sample the delicious cuisine of this town. After lunch drive back to Residence Primavera.
